Aly Sobhy is a young Egyptian theatre artist and a founding member of Hala Street Theatre Troupe (2001-2010). His work focuses on street, interactive, and social theatre, and he has trained extensively in various theatre disciplines, both locally and internationally, starting from a young age.
Along with a group of theatre artists residing in Egypt, Sobhy co-founded Outa Hamra (Red Tomato) Egypt’s first troupe in modern theatre history specializing in the art of clowning, as well as social and street theatre.  Through this troupe, he presented numerous theatre performances in the streets and villages of Egypt, as well as some African and Arab countries.
Since 2016, Aly has collaborated with Clowns Sans Frontières (France), contributing to artistic missions in Ethiopia and Egypt. Over his career, he has helped establish and execute several cultural and artistic events, including the Egyptian Independent Film Festival. As a professional actor, Aly has starred in acclaimed films such as Tamer El Said’s In the Last Days of the City, Awlaad Reze’, and Ex Meraty, as well as the drama series Taht Al Wesaya. In 2016, he earned the Muhr Best Actor Award at the Dubai Film Festival for his lead role in Sherif El Bendary’s Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim.
